Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lite weight warmth My husband has been wearing your silk underwear for years. The last several pair were in navy. He loves them...I've had them, too. He wears them hunting and likes the lite weight warmth. I would like them if they lasted longer. They seem to wear out next to cuffs. Other than that I like the product. I don't send them back for replacements as I feel we don't have to buy them if they don't seem to last long enough. First time isn't our fault but if we continue to buy them we should know about the wearing problem. Still a good item altho' a little pricey. Our children have bought them for him as gifts, also.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed! I have bought these silk underlayers from both Bean and their well-known competitor over the years. Surprisingly, Bean's quality has gone down since I last purchased from them. These shirts are normally tissue-thin, but this time they are SO thin, I can see EVERYTHING through them! Normally, if handled gingerly when washing, these easily last 2-3 years, but I doubt these will make it that long. I bought these on sale, so that makes up for the aggravation, but I guess I will have to get these from the competition next time, or look elsewhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great undershirt I have worn silk myself for many years, and find it irreplaceable in winter weather. I bought one of these shirts for my husband, and he loved it so much that Santa brought two more. When wearing silk, thickness is not necessary for warmth. Try it and superior to synthetics that it is well worth the price. I bought a very inexpensive delicate garment bag in the laundry section of the grocery story, put silk things in that, and machine wash (line dry)with no issues at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mens silk underwear reg crewnk My wife and I just got home from 21 days in Italy. We have been there close to this time before and it was cool to cold so I thought better get some long underwear but didn't want the bulk to carry. So of course it's always good to check with LL Bean. I found the perfect alternative in the Men's silk underwear, wow what a great product. I ordered the top and bottom pants and fell in love. They were light and very easy to pack and so warm by looking at them { they are shear} you might not think they could be so warm but they really are. I would recommend this product to men and women alike they are fantastic!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for winter warmth Silk underwear is the #1 product for base layer (against the skin) warmth. In my 20s, I mostly just camped in the winter season, and I found (like others) that silk was an optimal fabric to wear against the skin. Very warm and wicks moisture. These silk shirts from LL Bean met all my expectations. Now I wear them on cold winter days below my dress shirts in business attire.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works in bitter layering This past winter, we had record cold in Rochester, NY, and record snow. I was out in it every day clearing out 100-yd. driveway. But I was warm by adding this extra bottom layer which is lightweight and unencumbering. Also wore these on photo trip to SE Alaska, where it was cold and damp. Layered it with a Tneck, sweater, and shell. Perfect. Not too hot, and not chilly and damp like the weather. And it takes up virtually no space in drawer or suitcase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light Silk, unreliable sizing I agree with other reviewers, this silk garment is truly light material, verging on sheer. In virtually all my shirts I wear a Large Regular. My waist is 35/36, Chest 43, neck 18, 5'10" tall. I bought this shirt in large, tall. I weigh 203. The body girth and chest fit well, The sleeves fit well (I usually wear a 34 sleeve). The body length was the right length for the average tall person. For me it was about 2" long. If I had ordered a regular shirt there is no doubt that the sleeves would be too short. The shirt is a dream to wear. Comfortable as a sleeping garment, and warm as a base layer in these cold days. I have hand washed the shirt three times, drying flat on a thick towel. Dries quickly. I really would like to see LLB carry a similar shirt in medium or heavy weight silk. The supplier needs to improve their size standards.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Miss the old quality & want better sizing My husband and I loved the old LL Bean "silks" as a go-to base layer for skiing and other winter outdoor fun. I have turtleneck tops that are more than 25 years old, and yes they show it but I can still use them! And, they were machine wash AND dry. No more reliability like that lately. Newer ones are flimsier, and seem to snag easily and the snag turns quickly into a hole. That being said, they still do the job as a comfy, soft, thin, wicking base layer. So, I still like to try them, and I hope that maybe the lower quality ones we've had have been a bad phase. Now, I am buying them for a 6'3" teen son who is tall but not beefy. I need to buy him many things in tall vs. regular sizing. So, why is the smallest tall size L? Why not a tall size M? He still has the tall L shirt I got him last season, but it has holes from where it snagged on the next layer of clothing he wore, and it is baggy on him anyway. I just bought him this regular size M, and it fits his torso well, but the arms are short. I hope it won't come untucked when he's being active. And silk pants: Why not an option to buy them in tall at all? They aren't stretchy like tights, so one inseam length doesn't really work for all leg lengths!
