Very Interesting book
I got this book for my husband as a Christmas gift. I ended up reading the book before he did. It is the most interesting book of how a company with values, integrity and purpose is built throughout its many years. The insight into the choices that the President of LL Bean made with its employees has emerged LL Bean to be a company leader. A must read for anyone who is interested in how to grow a sustaining company that is lead by its values and doing what it right.

A very good book about the human side of the LL Bean legacy. Mr Gorman doesn't hold back on being honest and truthful about the state of the LL Bean Co. at the time he came onboard. His trying to work with and reason with a family that was aging and set in their ways, is a story that hit home with me. In my case, it was the family dairy farm. It could be frustrating trying to convince the older generation that times were changing, and we had better change with them if we wanted to stay in business. Mr Gorman's story is much like mine, but in a much larger way.A must-read book for all of us who have done business with and believed in LL Bean for decades. Thank God, Leon perservered and didn't get discouraged and walk away, or we might not have an LL Bean today. Great book !

great epilogue.
I am still reading this book but read parts of the book including the epilogue. it at least has an index. I find that great so being I am a kid from a nowhere school. I would have loved to have read this book while treking to little bridge park on the bus and eating and relaxing with suzy my dog!

LLBean Business Model for Success
I have been a long time LLBean customer and have been fascinated with the absolutely charming and warm, helpful customer service staff. I have talked to several customer service reps, only to be told that,"Yep, we are a happy lot!".
This book is a wonderful read and a great look at the history of a successful business model built on an honest and strong set of values. After I read this book I gave it to my college-age son, who is looking to start his own business, and who gleaned many business tips from this book. Great reading for all who want to know what makes a business last and keep customers happy for 100 years.
Congratulations LLBean on 100 years of smiling customers!!

Interesting history and business
I received this book as a gift a year or so ago and soon had it read.
This book gives a good history of the company and its business practices. Great for anyone interested in the LLB Company and/or business practices/ management. Mr. Bean was a fascinating entrepreneur, as is Mr. Gorman. The book would make a great gift for a business major.
This was a nice surprise--thanks!
