Vintage Matelassé Bedspread is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 473.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just right: easy-care, comfort, and simplicity I'd been searching for a matelasse spread for months that would fit my king bed...and KEEP fitting it after laundering. I put this one on the bed before washing it to determine whether it would shrink in the dryer; it did not. It is long and wide enough to cover the side rails and sheets of a tall bed when you don't want to use a dust ruffle. I love the feel of 100% cotton, and the weight is just right for year-round use. I do so enjoy not having to deal with extra pillows, shams, etc. every day. The older I get, the simpler I want things to be. My ONLY suggestion for LLBean would be : offer this great spread in ivory please.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally! A bedspread with more coverage! After months of searching for a bedspread that will cover a 15" thick king size mattress, I found it at LL Bean. I should have started here. When are manufacturers going to realize that mattresses are much taller than they used to be? This bedspread does a good job of covering the sides of the bed, but I still needed to keep my crocheted bed skirt for side coverage. The length is more than adequate. In fact, the length may be too long unless you like to tuck it around your pillows. (We prefer to leave our pillows out from under the cover.) The Atlantic blue color is perfect for our bedroom. The fabric is excellent and well made.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bedspread Love, love, love this bedspread! I have had one in teal for over 10 years. It has been washed numerous times but has held up very well. I have enjoyed using it as a cover during the winter with a light blanket on top and without the blanket when it is warmer. The material is soft and cozy. I decided to order another in teal while it was on sale and also got the pillow shams which I failed to do the first time around. I was very surprised to see that the original spread had not faded at all when I compared it to the new one. I have a very deep queen mattress, and the queen size covers the bed well, I am very pleased with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, good for pet owners Quality bedspread, have used constantly for one year now, looks as good as when we received it. Nice substantial weight, not oppressively heavy, breathes in warmer weather but surprisingly warm when temperature turns cooler. I'm old fashioned when it comes to bedding, and love the 100% cotton. Generously sized so it covers springs and mattress nicely, so that we're not always pulling and tugging one side or the other. Finally, our dogs' claws don't pick the outer material as has happened with many spreads of lesser quality. Wish I'd purchased this bedspread a long time ago and not bothered with the cheaper ones! Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for dog owners I ordered a full bedspread in Bay Leaf to use as a coverlet on my queen bed (thick mattress) in my Craftsman-style bedroom. I wanted extra length so I could keep the pillows covered during the day. It was a perfect fit. There was minimal shrinkage when laundering and machine drying. This is a heavyweight matelasse, much better quality than matelasse that I purchased elsewhere. I have a dog that likes to sleep on the bed so I need a spread that is durable, launders well, and does not get pulled threads from dog paws. This is it. Looks good, nice colors, generous sizing. Wish I hadn't waited so long and wasted money on other non-LLBean bedding that didn't perform like this.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Starts out looking nice, but not good with cats I thought that I would really like this matelassé king bedspread, but unlike another matellassé spread that I already had, this one is not woven as tightly. I have a cat, and she has created a lot of pulls. She does not knead it like a scratching post, she just gets caught , She did not have a problem with the more tightly woven spread. I’ve had the new one on the bed for about 6 weeks and it looks bad . My other spread is 5 years old and still looks great. But if you don’t have pets, and are gentle with it, it is a lovely spread. Size was great. I thought is was a lighter weight spread, but it is actually quite heavy. I wish the weave had been tighter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You'll always stay covered - no more bed hog! This is my second bedspread in this style. I now have a brown one and a green one. We absolutely love them. I've always used bedspreads (versus comforters) because we want the length as we don't fold it down at night - we actually cover up with them. In the summer, we cover with a sheet and this bedspread. In the winter, we add a blanket in between the two. My husband and I are notorious for calling each other a bed hog. Trust me, it won't happen with these bedspreads. They are long enough to keep you both covered all night, no matter how restless you are. They are heavy enough to stay in place and the cotton fabric keeps you comfortable. I intend to buy a third.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bad color I LOVE the Bean Matelasse bedspreads. They wash well and are the perfect weight year round. This one, however, I returned. The ones I have purchased in the past have nice patterns such as leaves or pine cones. This new pattern is not as pretty. I was ok with that. The problem is the color khaki. I am replacing a cream bedspread as we are upsizing our bed. The closest I could get in a bedspread was the khaki. I thought it would be a tan; somewhat darker than the cream. It was green. It did not go with the walls in the room at all. Unfortunately, neither do any of the other colors. I am trying to figure out what to do now as I do love the Bean Matelasse :(
