Men's Scotch Plaid Flannel Shirt, Traditional Fit is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 3503.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredibly Cozy, A Little Roomy First of all: wow. This is the definition of flannel. It's ridiculously warm and incredibly comfortable. The traditional fit is a little roomy, though. I'm about 5'9", 175lbs, and the medium was pretty big. I didn't want to go through the hassle of exchanging it, so I washed it in hot water and dried it for about 45 minutes, and it shrunk quite a bit. So if you end up with a size that's a little roomy, try my approach. Overall, though, this flannel is amazing. I live in Memphis, but spend the majority of the fall/winter in Arkansas on the Little Red and White Rivers. This flannel is a perfect midlayer, or even by itself on warmer fall days.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unfinished seams. Material not durable. I purchased this shirt because I liked the tartan...Stewart. Looked all right just out of the package. Then I noticed that seams inside the pocket were not finished. The edges of seams are raw...just waiting to unravel. After one washing I had threads hanging. After just five wearings...and washing in cold water on gentle cycle... the material is fuzzy and the tartan plaid is much more blurred. I agree with the reviewer who has written that this is not Portuguese flannel, which is very high quality. This shirt is already starting to look like it belongs in the rag pile...and it is not yet two months old. Piece of junk. I say, don't buy it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Flannel is cheap and rough I am a loyal and long-time LL Bean customer. However, this flannel shirt is not what is advertised. The material feels great out of the bag, but it is rough after a single washing. It feels more like wool than like cotton. The material is also very thin -- not warm at all. The tag near the collar say that the shirt is made in El Salvador. The item number on the tag is 228061 so I'm sure I'm not confusing this with a different shirt. I have an old LL Bean flannel shirt that is fantastic -- extremely soft, warm, wonderful. That's what this shirt should be. I generally love LL Bean but something has gone wrong here.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good weekend flannel I bought this shirt, and I've washed and worn it once. It is good quality material and construction, and it's very soft. It does seem a little thin, however. My only real disappointment is that it came out of the dryer a little more wrinkled than I'd like. I know that's to be expected of flannel, but I own at least three of the Wicked Good flannel shirts Bean sells, and I think they are worth the extra $10. They are definitely neat enough for casual office wear. But I prefer some of the patterns in this shirt to the Wicked Good plaids. If the Wicked Good came in Black Watch, Dress Campbell, or a nice Christmasy red plaid, I'd buy those immediately.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Black Watch Flannel Shirt I purchased the "Black Watch" style of this shirt. I have short arms (32 inches) and it fit perfectly. I just feel sorry for the average person that has regular length arms and it would be short. The quality of the fabric is abysmal. It looks like an old sweater that has a lot of piling. It has only been washed about three times. It collects everything. I had to remove the "trim fit" label because it rubbed the back of my neck like crazy. I've only had the shirt about six months and I will proceed to put it in the trash. I am sure this product is made in a foreign country for a "price." Your company can do better. Good luck!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Softest Flannel Shirt Ever Soft, and then there's LL Bean's customer service. Ordered a size small because previous reviews said these shirt ran very large, we found the small was, well, small. Returned for size medium for a man who wears size medium shirts; arrived in no time. Magnificent soft flannel. The medium size fits like a shirt you'd wear over a t-shirt for running errands, hiking with the dog, or working out in the shop on a cool day. Now I am back, ordering two size large for extra comfort while lounging in the evening. I think they run very true to size, and the customer service couldn't possibly be better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Order a size down. This shirt is great! The flannel is very soft and a medium weight so it is warm but not uncomfortable to wear indoors. The stitching is very nice and the buttons are thick and sturdy. I am 6' 0'' and 160 lbs and wear a 40 reg suit jacket and the SMALL fit perfectly in the shoulders and torso. The down side of ordering down a size is that the sleeves could handle being another half to one inch longer. If they made a small for the "tall" selections (even though I'm not that tall) that is what I would buy purely for the sleeve length. Overall, I think this shirt is a great value for the money. If it holds up as well as I think it will then I'll definitely be back for more.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Comfortable but pills immediately I purchased two of these flannel shirts last winter, one in Royal Stewart and one in Blackwatch. They seem to be well made and are warm and comfortable. However the fabric seems to have an issue. The blackwatch fabric began to pill after only the second washing. The royal stewart lasted a little longer than that, but it too gained a very fuzzy texture very rapidly. These are my first LL Bean flannel shirts but by no means my only flannel shirts. I have never had flannel shirts behave this way though have seen similar degradation in flannel sheets. I followed the care instructions on the tag. All in all it is disappointing because the look is ends up being a little sloppy.
