Men's Maine Hunting Shoes, 12" is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 122.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sizing is insane I normally wear an 8.5. I ordered a 7 following the size advice. They were way too tight around the toe area. I could barely walk. Since it was the rubber part, I didn't think there would be stretching. Thus, I exchanged them for an 8. The difference between 7 and 8 is more like two sizes. I am swimming in them and they are absolutely miserable. I should have sent them back and gotten a full refund. I gave up on LL Bean a couple years ago, but I thought these boots would be good since they're made in the USA. I don't even understand why they make sizing that is so off. How difficult would it be just to make the size the actual size.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't recommended for hunting I bought these to wear on rainy days in the field pursuing quail and rabbit. I've only worn the boots a few dozen times, and they are indeed comfortable, but my experience with durability has not been the same as other customers. While I could accept some leaking during a downpour, I have found that my feet get wet wearing them even walking a half mile through morning dew. Additionally, the laces shredded and fell apart after a few times walking through the woods. I really wish they worked better because they look good and are comfortable- but I would recommend putting the $150 towards a more durable boot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 12" Maine Hunting Boot As good as I hoped. I wear a men's 10D, ordered size 9 and they fit perfectly even with a pair of thick wool socks. What I mean by "perfect" is that with the socks on, there was about a good 1/2-3/4" of breathing/wiggle room. With regular socks even more wiggle room but they did NOT feel big. The laces are enough to secure the boots on and no slippage felt while hiking through valleys and plains with tall brush, loose dirt and jagged rocks. For warmth, it's really in the socks you get. I was in 40 degree weather with only merino wool socks (no liners) and they felt just fine. I'm very pleased with my purchase :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Remarkable for over 26 years My first pair of these hunting shoes was purchased as I was leaving for college in 1987, and the rubber bottoms finally had to be retired yesterday. I've never owned anything so reliable and consistent. Mine didn't receive pampered treatment - they saw regular use hunting, fishing, ice fishing, with one cleaning and treatment of the uppers each year. They are simply a three-season go-to for me if it might be wet. Even in writing this I'm amazed as I think back to all the places I took these boots, or maybe that they took me. I'm buying my second pair this week, and I truly expect that it will be the last pair I'll ever need.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Allow Time For Break In Make sure you review LL Bean's sizing recommendations. If you are going to be wearing these with one pair of light to medium socks, definitely order a size down. However, I bought these for cold weather use, so I ordered my normal size. I wear a liner sock, and then two pairs of wools socks to get a good fit. My feet stay warm enough down to temps in the 20's. The leather around the ankle can be stiff, especially in the spots that develop creases due to movement. However, if you give them time the leather with get softer and form to your ankle. I applied LL Bean's Boot Dressing to the leather and stitching and I have taken these in deep snow and ankle high water and have had no leaking. Very pleased.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Questionable sizing advice I am only writing a review to flag a size issue I had. I am normally size 8.5. I followed their online sizing advice, which is to order down 1.5 sizes if you wear thin socks. I ordered 7. I wore them around the house for a couple hours. Ordering down was a bad call for me. I am exchanging them for an 8. There was hardly any space between my toes and the front of the boots, and my small toes were jamming into the sides of the boots. Pain in the neck to exchange them as I live in a remote area.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No longer available in wide width? I came here to purchase another pair of Maine Hunting Shoes in the 12" height. These are apparently no longer available in a wide width. However, they are still offered in the 10" height. Aren't the uppers and lowers interchangeable? Aren't the boots still hand sewn in Maine? Why limit offerings to your customers when you already have the available parts and a manufacturing facility?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great service, great boot We all know about LL Bean's great service and it did not disappoint. The Maine Hunting Shoe is a classic and for the price, there is no better boot. However, I wish Bean's Signature line would deliver a Maine Hunting Shoe with better leather (for a higher price, of course). Waxed canvas is nice, but I'd prefer the boot to have Chromexel leather from Chicago's Horween Tannery. That would be well worth the price and would be a perfect product for the niche American heritage clothing market that the Signature Line markets to. That's just my two pennies...a great product that hopefully will be around for many years to come (and always Made in the USA).
