Men's Gore-Tex Cresta Hiking Boots, Leather is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 189.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warehouse Worker These boots hold up better than others in a UPS Warehouse environment, and when the other boots wear their soles out, these show very little wear. The rubber used in the Vibram sole is very tough and takes a long time to soften up; I estimate about 200 miles of walking before it softened to the point where I didn't feel like I was walking on hockey pucks. If you're hesitant to get these because of the price, don't be, and this is why: you will have these boots for the rest of your life. Instead of buying new boots every year like the people I work with, I invested in these which will last a lifetime due to their build quality and warranty.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as good as they once were!!! These boots are the only boots that don't hurt my husband feet upon first wear. He doesn't need to break them in and they do not cause calluses. However, they use to make them to last a year or so. My husband is a UPS driver so he walks all day for over 10 hours daily. Sadly, these shoes only last him 4-5 months. Literally the bottom soles fall off (wish I took a picture for reference - next time). Clearly the way they are made has been altered since the company no longer offers replacements when the shoes fall apart quickly. Unfortunately they are the confines shoes for him so we will continue to buy them. Wish they offer better sales on these.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great boot, but wish they lasted longer My husband loves these boots, they're comfortable straight out of the box. He's admittedly very hard on them, but I would expect them to last longer than they do. He has two pairs on rotation, and we've exchanged several throughout the years, but they just don't last him longer than about a year. The sole comes unglued (compromising their waterproofness, which is essential), and the insole liners practically disintegrate. We've tried replacing with store bought insoles, but the fit is never quite right again. The price point is just too high to have to buy a new pair every year. I'm sure they'd last years for someone who is a more casual hiker, but that is not my husband.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing My Cresta hiking boots, purchased about 5 years ago, are prematurely falling apart. The leather uppers have cracked and pulled away from the Vibram soles. My wife even commented she thought my Cresta's wore out fast. Since my youth I have owned only Bean hiking boots but in the past 5-10 years I have noticed a cheapening trend in your product line like many other loyal Bean customers. These boots used to be made in Italy by Italian cobblers and wore like iron. Not any more! My current Cresta's were made in Romania, outsourced from Italy no doubt to reduce cost and maintain profit. Please restore your good name by re-investing in your products. We know the difference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cresta I love the Crestas and have bought many a pair over the years because they stand up to repetitive ladder work. They truly are still built very rugged and are well made and I've hiked in the Rockies with them and never got a blister or any other issue whatsoever. The one thing that I wish LL Bean would consider (and I'm betting that I'm not alone on this) is for them to offer the same, exact boot, but without the Gore tex lining. The lining keeps them super waterproof, but in hot weather conditions, they would be so much more comfortable without the Gore tex. that being said, they are still a great choice, but are much more comfortable in cooler weather.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very Stiff These boots are well made. The fit seems slightly narrow, however the rest of the sizing is accurate. These boots are extremely stiff and do not break in very easily. After wearing these boots for about 30 miles of walking, I still found them to be extremely stiff and uncomfortable. They do not seem to get any better with miles in the comfort area, but they do appear to be able to hold up over the long haul. The soles are very hard and are not conducive to normal trail hiking but may be what a person wants if climbing around very rocky areas. Unfortunately, I found these boots way too stiff for my liking and comfort.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boots These are great hiking boots. I bought a set of Vesque Hiking boots 20 years ago and left them in my camper for a few years and when I put them on last year I literally stepped out of the souls they fell apart. My Cresta hikers I bought 20 years ago and they are still great hiking boots that I still use today. They are a bit heavy but I bought them for backpacking in the winter months and they work great for that, mine are full leather. They are very warm and comfortable and I can hike all day in these boots with out worrying about hot spots and blisters. I would defiantly buy another pair when I ware these out.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Loved these (passed tense) I am on my second pair of these boots. The first pair seemed to last forever. Eventually the sole started to delaminate from the boot and so I replaced them. I have had this second pair for about 3 years and the sole is delaminating from the boot and they leak BADLY. It is really a shame as I did love these boots and was actually worried they might stop making them as they have been around for a long time. Now I find myself looking for waterproof alternatives as these have failed badly!
