Because I thought they were "Signature Denim" would be at least as strong if not stronger than Beans other carpenter pant. Nice color though. Wear them to a small town bar at your own risk....

Rated 3 out of 5 by Grump ugly from Good pants, awful fly I like the material, the design, and the fit. I HATE the button fly. Why was 1840's technology used for this product? Whomever thought a button fly was a good idea was obviously not over 50 and did not try it out for several hours. The button fly ruined what could have been my favorite work pants. Currently I am considering my options of getting a zipper (or even hook and loop) put in or returning this item. As much as these pants cost, an inconvenience like a button fly should not be there.

Time will tell if they last through daily use, but I think they will given the excellent quality of material and fabrication. I wish that the little side pocket was big enough to fit my folding rule in it, not just a pencil. No carpenter is worth his or her salt without one and any carpenter pant side pocket should accommodate such a rule.

These jeans say they are durable and rugged but they feel really soft and the material isn't very substantial. They check the box for style and comfort; I just wish they were actually made out of heavyweight no-stretch denim. I would gladly pay a premium for more rugged stiffer material. I've tried the Double L jeans but they just don't fit right. Wish LL Bean would combine the look and fit of these with the heavyweight fabric.

These upscale carpenter jeans with emphasis on the contrast stitching should have been in the signature womenswear section! I sized up 2 sizes than normal, as they fall more on your hips. Falling as trousers, loose; but not totally baggy! You determine your look! Perfect length + choice of. No shrinkage. Great pants!!!
