Rated 4 out of 5 by from Somewhat uncomfortable. Very nice boot, but I retuned them for the lesser style which I will give a 5 star rating.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good looking at 20 paces, but Reasonable looking boots, perhaps best suited for the person going for “the look” over function. Eyelet lacing caused inferior quality shoe laces to wear out in less than 2 weeks of use (wore maybe 8 times at that point). Padding in heel area is ridiculous as it seems as if these pads are just placed randomly as opposed to filling the heel area. This design causes moderate discomfort- both at heel and in my head as I try to make sense of this silly arrangement. Is this shoe designed by bean counters? Children? Fish?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Second pair I've owned These fit instantly. No break in what so ever. My first pair have the toe cap style. I wanted a different look with the quality i was used to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Premium boots Disclaimer: I'm not a iron-worker or linesman. Desk-jockey here who needs stylish, solid, slush-proof boots for winter in the Great Lakes. These boots fit the bill and then some. I followed LL Bean's customer service advice and bought Nikwax cleaner and waterproofing with exceptional results. Laces lasted about 2 seasons. Soles still look brand new even after many hours of salty, slush, icy pavement pounding. Amazed at how quickly these clean up after an afternoon of battling the salt. VERY comfortable after a couple weeks of break in. I'm waiting for my oldest son to stop growing and then I'll buy him a pair. He'll have them for many years to come. These are really high quality boots.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from ... So Why Not a Five? These boots are great looking and so comfortable that you can even wear them without socks. So why not a five rating? Because, unfortunately, they are also examples of LLBean's quality slide. The Vibram soles needed to be replaced after ONE season. I have some boots/shoes with Vibram soles that have held up for a decade. When I brought them to my shoe repair even he commented on the cheapness of the originals and suggested higher quality replacement. So the new soles are holding up but now the lining around the heels is starting to shred. It is cloth, rather than leather, and admittedly a factor in their comfort. But still, the boots are only about 2 years old. I thought I would complain to LLBean only to find that the warranty is not the "for life" I'd grown up with. And while I knew they had dialed this back a bit, I was surprised to find the warranty on this particular item was ONE YEAR. Unfortunately, that's about how long you can expect them to last. If you're ok with that -- they're actually pretty nice.
