I see this as a mid-weight top: not for frigid weather unless you have a warm turtleneck under it, but for sweatshirt type of weather, this is a very soft, comfy alternative with lovely color blocking. I wear an XS, and the fit seems true to size. One could wear it alone, with soft aqua, or soft blue, or navy underneath -definitely more casual than not, but still a beautiful top.
