Why did you change the pockets?
These were the best shorts ever and you ruined them.
You took away the cargo zip and put a flap. You made all of the pockets more shallow. The right side pocket had a smaller zip pocket inside of it. You removed that. At least you kept the two back zip pockets. You splashed a BIG LLBEAN on the Right top back pocket. Not ok. You ruined a great pair of shorts. Why? The previous design allowed me on occasion to travel throughout my activities on some days without carrying a backpack or pocketbook etc Again, you absolutely ruined a great pair of shorts. Please bring back the previous design. Thanks.

What's with the "wingy things" on the hips?
These shorts have the strangest shape! The buff out on the hips like someone needed to stick a sandwich in the pockets. I like the fabric and the length but these "wingy" puffs on the sides on my hips make me look mishapen. Ugh.

Fits well
Love the shorts, but am sorry that some of the pockets are gone. The previous shorts had buttons on the waist, which I also prefer. I am hoping next year’s version will be better

Heed the sizing advice
Others have warned that these shorts run large and they do. I always wear a medium in Bean pants and shorts but ordered in a small and they fit perfectly. Love the sand color and that they fit around the waist. The flaw is that the side zippers protrude outward and cause them to balloon around the hips. The last thing I need is to accentuate my hips. They are comfortable and a good length so I’m compromising by wearing them only with a longish top to disguise that issue. Hoping they will soften with washing as one reviewer mentioned, making them lie flatter. Front pocket is too shallow as well, even for my iPhone mini.

Very Pleased!
These shorts are very straight cut, no contour at the waist -so the waist does run big. They do have a small section of elastic on either side. I like to wear my shorts at my waistline so I'll just pull the adjustable belt (which is very nice addition) tighter. I normally wear a size 8 in shorts/pants and could have easily gone with the size small instead of medium, but I prefer not to have cargo type shorts more fitted- especially in hot weather. I like them roomy! I bought both colors which are true to how they are depicted. I love the lightweight fabric and all how the pockets were worked into the overall design.

Be patient
The reviews I read which commented on the large, odd, ballooning fit of these shorts were all true, but I ordered anyway because garments which sit at the waist are scarce. I hate the low cut of modern styles. Here is what I have learned. These shorts do run a little large, and they look terrible when tried on right out of the shipping bag. However, if you are patient, wearing them, washing them, hanging them up to dry after a few minutes in the dryer, they do "calm down" and begin to fit. I believe the polyester fabric is stiff and has a great deal of body. The many pockets and zippers are put in awkward places to be flattering to most figures. As time goes by, washing and drying make the fabric more supple and the zippers lie flatter. The result is that after a few weeks, I am now very satisfied with my shorts and am enjoying them very much.
