Rated 5 out of 5 by from Packway Hooded Jacket Very happy with purchase. It's the prefect lightweight hiking / dog walking coat for later winter / early spring Maine weather.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent non-down ultralight jacket. Great non-down ultralight jacket. Similar to a down sweater. Warm, considering it is so thin. I think it is not meant as a shell or outer jacket; I don't think the fabric is water-resistant, though it does block wind. It works well as an inner layer, depending upon how you deal with the excellent hood. Somehow this hood gives me much better peripheral vision than most. The zippers are small YKK size 5 coil for the jacket, and smaller YKK coils for the four pockets (inner and outer left breast, side slash pockets inside the insulation). The zipper has a good stiff draft block, but it is a cold spot. This jacket is very comfortable indoors and when exercising hard. I've found that modern "waterproof down" jackets are not and sweaters are not.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Windbreaker Held up very well durning a mountain hunt recently. Was warm enough in the morning with thermals underneath and would strip the thermals through the day and continue to wear as a wind breaker.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Almost there Awesome jacket except for sleeve length. Sleeves are fine when arms are at side, but when you raise your arms, the sleeve is too short. This doesn’t happen on the down sweater you sell

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Should have gotten the tall. Get the tall size if you think you may need it. I am 6' 3" 235 pounds, 47 inch chest, 37 inch from middle of back to wrist/sleeve. That said, this jacket should have fit correctly after my research of L.L. Beans size chart but only in the sleeve length and waist/hip length area. I also read other reviews but most were very vague when describing fit and finish. If I do not move in the jacket it fits right. If I reach, the sleeve rides up my arms 4 inches from the wrist and the jackets feels tight in the shoulders, elbows and latissimus dorsi area of my back. L.L. Bean says the jacket sleeve length for the regular XXL is 36-37 inches. It is 36" only. Too short for me. I am a 37". Should have gotten the tall. The length is 29 inches from bottom of hood hem to bottom of jacket hem. Too short for me and it lets cool air in when bending over even with cinch cord activated. It just rides up your back. Should have gotten the tall it would have been two inches longer. But, again, based on Beans measurements the jacket should have fit. Customer service stated that the only thing that changes from regular size to tall is sleeve length and bottom length, not the back and shoulder areas. So no matter if you buy a regular or tall in XXL, that tightness in the aforementioned areas will not change. The jacket is warm and I may use it for the transitional months in spring and fall and maybe as a layering system in winter. In cool weather you can immediately feel the warmth provided by the space age insulation. The hood fits fine. The four pockets are handy but I wish one of the upper pockets was on the opposite side of the other pocket. Both upper pockets are on the same side and same height. They interfere with each other when using them to store items. So basically it's one pocket or the other unless you are storing items that are flat. R & D could simply move one of the pockets to the upper right side of the jacket. Viola. The lower front slash pockets do not have interior cinch cord pull ability but they do have zippers which is nice to be able to secure items. The outer material is very light and I do not recommend wearing this jacket in the brush where branches and stickers are present. The fabric will surely rip. The trim at the end of the sleeves will wear out quickly. I have a L.L. Bean fleece Jacket with the same trim and have repaired it myself after the thread and trim separated from the sleeve. I like the packaway feature. I have read that packing this type of jacket over and over could damage the insulation. I will keep my jacket in a stuff sack instead of using the jacket pocket. The jacket pocket is a very tight stuff. A slightly larger stuff sack will be less hard on the jacket and insulation. That is just my preference. Over all, a nice cool weather jacket but I should have purchased a tall to get the sleeve length and hip length. Good luck!
