Men's L.L.Bean Allagash Five-Pocket Pants, Standard Fit is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 29.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Once Great, Now Returned Originally these pants were great. They were heavy cotton canvas, with a metal button closure. The second version used lighter cotton canvas, which is better for summer wear, and the button closure changed to a sewn-on plastic button. Still a very good pair of pants, and what I expected. However, the latest version is unwearable. A zipped phone pocket has been added, which is not a bad feature, but the front pockets are shallower, and have been moved closer to the zipper. An odd placement that means they don’t lie flat, but hang partly open. And, the zipper is about 1/2 inch shorter than before, which is awkward, and very uncomfortable.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from One disappointing aspect The pants fit as expected but there is one annoying flaw that dramatically reduced my rating. The pockets are finished in such a way that the white inside liner is very close to the edge and often is visible when I'm wearing them. Perhaps this won't bother some people but it bothers the heck out of me. I have two pairs of the earlier version of these pants and they do not have this problem so perhaps LL Bean can see how it was done before and have them produced the same way. Overall, I think this new version of the pants is not as comfortable or well fitting as the earlier version.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great material, slightly tight legs I like the material quite well: soft, light-weight, ALL cotton. They fit a bit tightly across the front of the upper legs, but it's not very noticeable standing up. There are VERY few places to get pants that fit regular people: the new trend is tight, stretchy blended fabrics, and that is EXACTLY what I don't like (many of us older people still wear pants, and are not built like the anorexic youth who want second skin). I would love to see more all-cotton, or cotton-hemp blends with NO polyester or other petroleum-based fibres. Some of your clothes have organic cotton; making organic cotton or cotton-hemp pants would be awesome!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from CONSTRAINING "STANDARD FIT" IS TOO TIGHT AND DOES NOT FIT ME WELL. PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD ALLAGASH PANTS THAT WERE ACTUALLY COMFORTABLE. ALSO, THE ZIPPER ON THE EXTRA POCKET SEEMS DISFUNCTIONAL. IT WASTES TIME WITH FINDING, OPENING, AND THEN CLOSING IT AND SCRATCHES MY HAND GOING IN AND OUT OF THE POCKET. OTHERWISE THE MATERIAL AND WORKMANSHIP ARE STILL VERY GOOD, AS WERE ON THE PREVIOUS ALLAGASH MODEL A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO; BUT THE NEW "STANDARD" AND "ZIPPER" FEATURES ARE DEAL BREAKERS.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pockets Stick Out I like the color and fabric of these pants, and they seem to fit well enough in the waist. However, the white fabric in the pockets shows all the time. The cut of the pants seems to leave the pockets stretched open and the pant color does not go deep enough into the pocket, so the white pocket color shows from the front. Very disappointing, as I really wanted to like these pants and find them unwearable if I'm tucking in my shirt.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from SKINNY LEGS IN HIKING PANTS?? I've been an LL Bean customer for over 50 years. Worn Allagash pants for years. They are pictured, even in the review, with strait legs. When received and tried on had skinny legs. Couldn't even sit and bend my leg without being too tight. LL Bean, what are you doing?? I'm 6 ft., 145 lbs. lean guy, terrible decision to go with trendy styles in classic outdoor trousers...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor pattern The fit and cut of these pants was terrible. I'm used to good fits from Bean, but the last couple of orders have been returned due to crazy messed up patterns. Tight in legs and just a strange cut overall.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lightweight. Almost too short These pants are lightweight and fit well. There is a gusset in the crotch without which they would probably bind and not be as comfortable. I only wish they were another inch longer. They are just barely long enough. LL Bean should consider selling inseams longer than 34in. People are taller now than they were in 1912.
