Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit with instant comfort First impression was that the design and fit looked great I was shocked by the comfort of the first fit. After wearing these boots for the full first day I was so comfortable in them that I forgot I was even wearing anything. I had no foot pain and was actually so comfortable that I left them on for the rest of the day. I am extremely impressed by the quality of the treads and leather itself and I am now going to be an LL Bean customer for life, if they last and wear as well as I expect they will.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from slippery laces won’t stay tied! My 15 year old son wanted these for school after I insisted that he couldn’t wear sneakers in the snow. We ordered size 12 (his normal) but we had to go down to 11.5 as they run large and wide. After we got the right size, he decided he didn’t like the style and the laces were so darn slippery, they wouldn’t stay tied even with a double knot! We returned for a pair of the Storm Chaser boots. Now everyone is happy. The shoe lace issue is really a fatal flaw with these as they might have worked otherwise. Shouldn’t have to buy after market laces......

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Boot, very comfortable! Yes, as other reviewers have stated, the upper is pretty stiff at first, but if you work the leather with your hands for a few minutes, or get them damp and stick them in the freezer overnight (or both!), the leather softens up pretty quickly. Once it does, these things are great: super soft insole, waterproof and warm. I like these boots a lot. I wish LL Bean made them in black!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Almost My husband really wanted these to be great. They were light, good looking and an almost comfortable fit EXCEPT the back of the shoe was very stiff and high and he didn't think they would ever break in or be wearable. Regretfully, they were returned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from quality waterproof boot-like shoe Great shoe with boot-like characteristics (leather, waterproof, sturdy, simple look)! I had been looking for this type of shoeboot for a while and was happy to see them on offer from LLB. Took a few miles to break them in but overall I am very satisfied. Ive only had them for a month but they are well-worn and have passed every farm/town/water/woods test so far. Much like leather boots, they are also quite warm when worn with good socks. Time will tell if they are the same quality as my other bean boots that are still in the rotation. Notes - They are a hair wider than I expected but they feel great when laced up tight (e.g. toe box and mid foot area is wider than bean boots I have of same size; gore-tex lined leather hunting boot and waxed canvas upper Maine hunting shoe). The worst thing I can say about these boots is that the laces they come with are quite long when laced up tight so I may get a shorter pair.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good boot, bad laces. I waited a year to write this review as I didn't want to respond to soon. This boot is extremely comfortable and warm with just regular sweat socks. They keep your feet warm and dry. The laces on the other hand stretch out of shape not allowing the boot to fit snuggly. Update the laces.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality shoe but lacks arch support The shoe's quality exceeded my expectations. However, I found the bed of the sole to be very flat lacking much if of any arch support. I bought Superfeet inserts which greatly improved the comport. Nice sole provides nice traction. Shoe laces are a bit long and have a tendency to come untied.
