Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not what was expected I purchased the one in pewter (with the coral edging on the brim). First off, the hat is *very* light. The fabric of the crown is about the thickness of a very thin bedsheet, and is translucent. The brim--which is very dark navy (almost black) on the underside--is somewhat thicker, but also quite light. I wonder if the brim will hold up to use and washing without going floppy. Also, I didn't realize until I met this hat in person that the chin strap and the elastic cord with which one can adjust the fit are one and the same; should I wish to remove the chin strap (as I do for most), the hat will be too large for me. So, this hat wasn't quite as expected, and I'm not sure that it's a keeper.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Floppy hat I should have followed the previous reviews and not purchased this hat for the beach. The brim is not strong enough to stay stiff in any breeze, it flopped around constantly so I rarely could use it. I like the color and the hat is a very cool material that is why I gave it 2 stars but over all the product was not what I was looking for, mistake for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ive loved this hat for years Ive used and worn this hat for several years—The lightweight fabric is perfect when you’re out in the sun. The “under chin“‘cord is perfect when I drive my convertible and the brim is stiff enough to resist the wind. My only complaint this year—2020–are the colors offered. The green is too green/dark. The pewter color hat is OK—but whats up with the contrasting brim—if this hat was all one color it’s be easier to coordinate with clothing—some people do not really like the orangey color. The coral hat color is OK—but I wouldnt wear it with most of my wardrobe (and it does NOT flatter my skin tone). Also—WHAT HAPPENED TO WHITE? A White hat is really versatile and I love to wear a white hat when I’m boating—-or when Im walking around an arboretum or garden—or when Im out in my yard—on my flowerbeds or among my berry bushes. I love being able to release the under the brim back flap—to provide a little sun cover for my neck (I use copious amounts of sunblock anyway but the flap does lessen the heat on the back of my neck) Ive given this hat as a gift to a couple of friends—and they LOVE IT!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love the coral color Unfortunately, that’s all I loved. It seemed smaller overall than my previous hat in brim width and hat height. But most disappointing was the placement of the tie. As others noted and I had ignored, the tie is placed toward the back of the hat. A slight wind flips it off your head. This won’t work at the beach or when I’m gardening. Also no way to cinch the hat tighter like my previous one that I’ve used for years but lost. Ordering another style because I usually love LLBean clothing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Extremely poor quality wild I was very disappointed in this hat. It was dollar store quality at best. It was feather light with a thin floppy brim. Worst of all the chin strap was not centered and had to go behind the ears. I was so excited when I ordered this, the coral color stands out and my family would be able to spot me anywhere. Sent it right back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect I've tried a variety of these types of "outback" hats and either the sizing or shape or both have not been right for me. This one is. It also folds easily to slide into a side pocket of a bag or backpack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent protection I’m very happy with this hat. The brim is wide and protects both my neck and my face. I love the color; the fabric is light. I don’t like wearing hats, but I’ll wear this one whenever I go out in the sun.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cute, but be ware of wind! I should have paid closer attention to previous reviews that mentioned that the brim of this hat couldn’t stand up to wind. I live on the beach and there is always a breeze. It doesn’t take much for the breeze to push the brim up leaving my face unprotected from the sun. Otherwise, it’s a cute and comfortable hat. However, it does not serve my purpose.
