Rated 5 out of 5 by from Supremely comfortable for walking and hiking These shoes are one of the best purchases I have made in a long time. Supremely comfortable from the moment I put them on, they are a great product for walkers and hikers. I purchased them specifically for a trip to Japan, and I am so happy I did. From the streets of Tokyo, where we averaged 10 miles a day, to the Nakasendo Trail, where we hiked for four days, these shoes kept my feet comfortable and dry. I never hesitated to put them on in the morning, and my feet never felt that end-of -the-day fatigue that comes from miles of walking. And because they are not hiking boots, with high ankles and heavy soles, they are versatile in their appearance and can be worn in varied situations, town and country alike. You get the idea. I love them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Comfortable These shoes have become my "go to" shoe for all casual activities. I like the look which is similar to sporty running shoe, but the weight is heavier (by design). The shoes feel firm around my foot without binding, and I have wide feet. The toe turns upward slightly that results in a rocking motion from heel to toe, but I actually like that feel. The shoes are nice and warm in cold weather. I'm thinking that they might be on the warm side in hot weather, but perhaps the mesh and TEK2 waterproofing will breath enough to allow moisture to escape and not overheat. The inch of rubber coating all the way around the shoe upper, just above the sole, allows a lot of walking in puddles or wet grasses without worry of getting soaking socks. The shoe laces seem to be on the thin side for this style of shoe. I 'm not sure if there is a design reason for this, so I may change them out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very comfortable shoe I bought a pair to wear walking our dog in rainy winter weather. It was comfortable and stable right off the bat, so comfortable, in fact, that I ordered a second pair to set aside as a spare when the first pair wears out. But this shoe was so comfortable that I started wearing it around all the time. So I ordered a third pair, one for walking the dog, one for wearing to work, etc., and a spare. The first time I ever bought three pairs of the same shoe! (The thin laces are a little unusual, but I've been tying my own shoes for over 60 years, and I figured it out.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shoe, I love it! Really well made, good construction. Light yet strong, very comfortable, breathable, and stable. I'm a big guy and it can be difficult to find a lightweight shoe that's supportive, durable and comfortable. These provide. The soles have really good traction. Light padding around the shoe and in the gusseted tongue adds comfort. I was apprehensive about the laces because they are quite thin and maybe less manageable than typical laces. However, they're very strong, and they don't come undone. They can be difficult if they knot up, but I don't find any trouble avoiding that. As a hiker, I'm sure they're great on the trail, but I bought them because I do a lot of indoor and outdoor walking around for work. I'm tempted to buy another pair and put them away until these wear out.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Laces not thought through well very comfortable shoe, and truly waterproof. So why the rating. Well the laces are very narrow and difficult to keep tied. In addition after only a few months one lace broke and I was unable to find a replacement. The laces are a very bad design/implimentation

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great comfortable shoes with solid tread I grabbed a pair of these on sale at the LLBean store in New Hampshire and took them all the way across the White Mtns to Mt Katahdin, totaling about 450 miles of the Appalachian Trail. I was previously hiking in the widely popular Altra Lone Peaks which were lighter than the LLBean North Peaks, but I think the extra weight was worth it given the additional waterproof feature that came in handy for the many stream crossings. I had minimal issues descending steep wet mtns thanks to the North Peak's strong grip, but did notice the tread near the front start to part from the rest of the shoe after only a few weeks in (granted I had hiked ~200 miles by then). The same size shoe of the North Peaks was a bit smaller compared to my Altras and I prefer to have hiking shoes run slightly big so I'd recommend going a half size up. All in all a great shoe that I certainly got my money's worth out of and would buy again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What's with the kiddie shoe strings? Very comfy and supportive. Fit well. Haven't yet tested dryness. But, I phoned cust. serv. to complain about the shoestrings which are very thin, like you'd find in little kid's shoes, and they don't stay tied. The nice lady agreed and said "buy a pair of suitable strings and send us the bill." I thought that was accommodating. I might take them up on the offer. I also bought LL Bean walking shoes and those strings are the best. Why couldn't they put those on the waterproof sneakers too.? Why open yourself up for complaints and dissatisfied customers. Keeping strings tied on your shoes should never be a problem. Who wants to break stride to retie a dumb shoelace that doesn't stay tied? When you're old like me, you're just hoping to make make it up the hill, and make it back alive on a 3-mile walk and you shouldn't have to worry about your shoestrings staying tied.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice trail shoe; similar to Ghost gortex by Brooks So far this is good replacement for my Brooks Ghost 9 Gortex shoes. I am still evaluating the quality of the insole. I'm not sure the insole will outlast the main body of the shoe. The Width and Length were perfect. My socks are dry after many trips through the long wet grass in my yards. I would like another chance to review this shoe in six months or so.
