Women's L.L.Bean Midweight Base Layer, 1/4 Zip is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 39.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable Fit I wear this base layer for downhill skiing, but it also works for casual wear when not skiing during this cold time of year. The weight is what I was looking for -- layers nicely under a sweater. I like the partial zip front, too, as I am always adding/shedding layers to maintain a comfortable body temperature. The sleeves are a little long for my taste -- they easily roll/fold up, so not a problem. They are long so you can take advantage of the thumb hole, but I have not used that yet. Good product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Formfitting and warm! Since this is an undergarment, I am very pleased with the formfitting fabric that is also comfortable and warm. It is perfect and just what I wanted. I wear it under wool, cotton, and silk blends and I’m pleased in all cases. I love the zipper as well. These are great! I’d love to see you offer more colors: grass green, shocking pink, and yellow. I’d order them!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from UGLY color - crimson First off, I love these 1/4 zip base layers. Have used them for 30+ years as my winter base for xc skiing and winter hiking. I bought the crimson and was expecting a heathery cranberry like it looks online. It is brown! Dreadful color. I'm keeping it because it's a base layer, but my suggestion is to buy any color except the crimson. Good grief, it is ugly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never Let me Down I've purchased several styles of LL Bean Women's Base Layer tops over the last 10 years and not one of them has ever failed. In fact they all still look relatively new and I use them every winter. I ordered one of these Women's L.L.Bean Midweight Base Layer, 1/4 Zip, Petite tops this winter because I needed a thicker base layer to work on a UPS truck as a driver helper. This top surpassed my expectations as a top layer over a light base layer as it was VERY warm, breathable, and looked professional. I washed it every day for a few weeks and it never faded, pilled or looked old. So of course I had to order 2 more of these tops, one in the greenish color and another in black (which has a lot of gray tones.) It was important these tops be tough and warm as conditions on the truck are freezing (you ride with the door open) and you get dirty from handling packages and slogging through mud and snow. Now that my seasonal job is coming to an end, I've started trail running in these tops and they keep me warm with a thin base layer top underneath and a thin insulated vest as a top layer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love These I ride horses daily, work around the ranch and hike regularly. Needed these as layering pieces so I could keep doing all that in 20 and 30-degree temps. I purchased my regular Bean size medium, and these fit perfectly. Body-skimming fit yet not clingy, and plenty of stretch. Can even wear a thermal tank underneath as needed. The fabric is comfortable against my skin and washes well in cool water. Sadly the lavender color is not as bright or pretty as in the picture. It's much more muted. Yet I can live with that minor disappointment.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from New fabric means much tighter fit and no give I've been buying this baselayer for several years and have found the annual changing of the fabric somewhat annoying, since I loved the "first edition". Previous years' changes were primarily aesthetic, though. This year, the new fabric has virtually no give or stretch. So the size I've always bought (and am wearing right now, in fact) no longer fits me. I thought about exchanging this for a larger size, but I really don't like a base layer that does not move at all with me. I love the 1/4 zip style and will miss it but after years of buying LLBean's base layer, it is at last time to find something new. Too bad, because I really love the ones I already own. But this stuff is horrible. And the black isn't even black!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Well Made but The base layer is well made as all LL Bean clothing. The one problem is that it snags easily. My first snag happened the first time I wore it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great base layer Looks and fits well. True to size. This is my 4th. Love the new colors . A great base layer Only complaint was a funny odor which I originally attributed to the box it came in. Have washed 2x and still notice it a bit
