Rated 2 out of 5 by from Why So Short? Bought one of these in LL Bean store without testing it. Assumed it would be a one-arm version of my LL Bean hiking poles which I love. No problem with the construction or materials. Very well made. But I'm 5'9" and I was always told to adjust a hiking pole so your hand went around the grip when your arm was bent at 90 degrees at the elbow. This pole at max 39" is just too short. Even fully extended and holding the top like a cane it's just too short. And I'm not a big person. Probably pass this along to my daughter (5' 4"). I'd buy another one of these if they made them to a longer size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact, sturdy, convenient I was very happy to find a walking stick that collapsed to only 18 inches. The one I've been using was 22 inches - too big to fit inside my favorite luggage. This one has handy numbered markings for resetting it quickly to the right height. The photo shows the steel tip, so I ordered a set of rubber tips for sidewalk and indoor use. I was surprised when it arrived with a rubber tip already installed, but I will keep the extras in case this one wears out or gets lost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to adjust and use but... The rubber tip worked great for about 2 days as we toured the stone walkways of old Jerusalem, but very quickly though it wore through to the spike which was covered by the tip. It needs some sort of metal liner which would protect the end of the rubber tip. We had this happen with a previous one as well but it is such a great walking stick/cane that we bought a second after giving our first to a friend to use. It is very sturdy, light and incredibly easy to adjust with marks to help you remember your previous settings. Packable with a comfortable handle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding cane Having some issues with arthritis, I have tried a lot of canes. I am over 6 feet tall, too. Most folding or collapsing canes are too short. This cane is great for height and its ability to collapse. Plus it looks good! Something a baby-boomer like me likes, unlike most canes. And the handle is super comfortable. I also love the wrist strap. That helps in so many cases where it is not convenient to set the cane down. Thanks, LL Bean!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Watch the length! These polls are the top of the line for short people. They easily pack into a carry on suitcase. Poll lengths are confusing because these are in metrics and not in inches. These are only 39 inches long. They would be good for someone up to 5'6" tall. LLBean should give the height of the person in which hiking sticks are suitable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a cane I am 83 and a bit heavy and wanted a stick with a metal tip to walk on Minnesota ice. This is not the right stick,. Went out to feed the birds and lower part of stick collapsed and into the snow I went. Nothing tgrab on to to stand up so there I sat. Ten minutes later my daughter wondered why I hadn't returned and rescued me. Stick had been tightened numerous times but it can't withstand being used as a cane. Back to L,L,BEAN it goes

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rambler Power Lock 2.1 Excellent durable construction. Great ergonomics. Great range of length adjustment with secure holds. However, after 2 days touring London, the carbide tip penetrated the rubber tip. This was very disappointing considering the high quality of its other construction. This was a new walking stick!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job This staff is lightweight, yet still does an excellent job keeping me steady on rocky, wet, and sloping trails. As a senior, I am not tackling treacherous trails, so one might need a heavier or sturdier tool for that. But it’s perfect for keeping me on my feet and off my butt.
