Adults' Maine Guide Wool Cap with PrimaLoft, Plaid is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 34.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Cold Weather Hat Just got my gray Maine Guide wool cap today. Couldn't find my size (L) at the store in Freeport so ordered it online. Fit is perfect (I wear a 7 1/4 hat). Ear flaps keep ears fully covered, unlike some knit caps that tend to ride up. Flaps fold up nicely when not needed. Of note, the hat still fits well if you fold the flaps up inside, vice outside, the hat. As a previous reviewer stated, the bill shields the eyes from bright sun and reduces how much snow/rain gets on your glasses. This is a smart-looking and very well-designed/constructed hat. Sure to be a winter favorite. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice old school wool cap My father wore this kind of wool cap with ear flaps back in the 60's in the winter in the very cold Michigan's UP. The bill on the cap kept the falling windy snow from landing on the lenses of his glasses. I recently bought one of red and one of gray color of this cap. I have a large head, and size XL fits me fine. This cap is warm and looks sharp and does not look goofy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Construction I have a small head but I did measure according to the sizing instructions. The flaps are floppy and do not sit closely to the head. It looks like you are winged. If I put them under it looks odd and if I flip the earflaps up it really looks silly. This hat is very poorly designed which is too bad because I have an LL Bean Winter baseball hat which I have had for years and it is getting old but works terrifically. Too bad you got rid of that design; It was a boys hat.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor I have used LLB stuff for years, and love all of it. Until this arrived. First, the plaid version is not similar to the other one. It is strangely odd shaped, with a peak and shapeless "crown". Whoever made this never saw Elmer Fudd, who would not be seen in this hat. It is over-sized ( my head is really big!) and the flaps will not be hidden under it; they must be seen on either side. Oh, that is enough. Elmer is mortified.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Reviews were correct I got this for the winter in Washington DC which is not that cold but demands a wool hat. The reviews were very accurate. XL is too large for me so I put hat band augmenters in and it fit well. The ear flaps are not that warm but do fine with the collar of most coats up. The hat is better than my many baseball caps with college logos or knit caps which don't block the sun. I used the measuring guide for size and also called up Bean but the size is still "generous" (bigger than many XLs) Still will use regularly

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for me! I love this hat, though I don't care for the plaid--mine is a very dark grey. The hat is warm, the flaps cover my ears--and earbuds as I walk around--and, best of all for me, the visor is great. My eyes are very sensitive to the sun even with sunglasses on, and this hat gives me the shade I need. For me, it's perfect!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from maine guide wool cap Per the instructions, I measured my head size in order to be sure I ordered the correct size. It was borderline, so again, per the LL Bean product description, I ordered the next largest size. When I received it, it was much too large. It works if I put a stocking cap under it. This is fortunate, because the cap itself is not especially warm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great old school cap What a great looking and functional old school hat. The ear flaps fully cover your ears on the cold days and can flip up snug to the cap when not needed. As mentioned previously, the brim works well to keep falling snow or rain from getting to your glasses lenses. Very warm and functional and my new go to hat for the colder fall/winter days. Well done LL Bean!
