Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new favorite winter sweater I discovered this sweater in an LL Bean hunting catalog. I am not a hunter, but it has become my favorite winter sweater. I live in Maine so I wear wool all winter. This heavy-weight but not bulky sweater is warmer than any other sweater I own. In spite of its original use as a garment for hiding out in duck blinds, it is wonderfully flattering for casual city excursions. I love its long length and stand up collar which are attractive details and provide warmth as well. The soft fabric lining on the collar is a thoughtful and interesting nicety. I believe this sweater is a perfect garment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thermo-Adaptive I bought this sweater for its color (mulberry), which is really more burgundy than fuscia. I'm short, so the collar is a little high for my short neck. What I LOVE about this sweater is that it keeps me comfortable in a wide range of temperatures. Different areas of my house can have temperatures 15 degrees apart, so I'm usually too cold or too warm, putting on or taking off a vest. This sweater keeps me perfectly comfortable no matter where I am--I'm never cold or hot. I'm not even aware of the temperature, so I can just focus on what I'm doing without distraction. I've never had a garment that does this. It also resists pilling, which is very impressive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well-made and fits great This sweater is made of high-quality material, and the ribbing means that it looks really nice just over a T-shirt. I wanted to wear it right away, and have already worn it a couple of times, even though the weather is a little warm for a sweater. It feels great on and looks great too! The neckline styling is quite classy. I checked reviews before I bought and saw that some people found the material to be too scratchy, but for me that has not been an issue, even with short sleeves underneath. The sweater material is thick, but because it’s merino wool, I was able to wear it in a variety of temperatures and not feel overly warm. In the cold weather I know that I will get lots of use of it and stay cozy warm.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Merino? I love merino and bought this expecting a soft, non-scratchy material. It is scratchy. Not at all what I expect from merino wool. The color is lovely, a rich raspberry. Bought a small because I was afraid the chest would be tight. So it fits in chest but is a bit long in the arms and length, so it covers my hips. Thought of sending it back due to scratchy wool feeling but will try with an undershirt. So if I could enter “yes & no” for a recommendation, I would. But merino lovers beware!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic Warmth!!! Perfection! I was excited to receive this classic fantastic true wool sweater that was crafted with such care to keep the person wearing it warm and comfortable when it is cold outside! It arrived yesterday and even though the temp here was 94 degrees I tried it on! The small fit fine with a bit of room to move. I am around 5 ft three and range around 140 pounds ...And too being a pear shape small of the top. I will wear it with an LL Bean Turtle neck under it... and I love that the collar is lined with a soft low fleece and keeps a person's neck from getting all itchy. All the colors are great. I got the tan-beige color since it will go with pants of any color. Now I am looking forward to the cold day when I can wear it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding sweater! This is the warmest sweater I have ever owned and yet it is not too bulky—must be the way it is knitted. It is beautifully made and classic in style. It is long, but not overly so and I am pretty short. I wear a long sleeved turtle neck under iit and it is not scratchy. I liked it so well that I bought another in the tan color, at full price! The mulberry color is lovely, btw. I don’t plan to wash it, but will dry clean it as I do with all my good wool sweaters. Great job LLBean and I wish you offered more women’s all wool sweaters similar to this!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable and warm! I really like this sweater; it's comfortable, warm, and stylish. I live in Maine and this sweater has kept me warm while shoveling in a few storms now. The wool is a little scratchy on bare skin, but not so irritable that I couldn't wear it. I wore it over a 3/4 length sleeve shirt and didn't have any issues wearing it all day at work. I'm 5'4" and based on reviews I bought a Misses Medium. The medium is a little big on me, but not baggy. In terms of length, the sweater covers most of my bottom, which I'm fine with in winter. I probably could've gone with a small, but it may have been a little tight across the chest. Overall I'm happy with the medium and very happy with the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Who knew about this sweater? I saw the men's version of this sweater on the daily special, and had wished they made it for women, too. I searched for a women's version but didn't find it searching in women's sweaters. Then the women's version came up on a daily special and I purchased in the beautiful magenta. It fits perfectly, lovely details and seaming at shoulders. If women's sweaters are in the hunting section, please also post in the women's section or at least make it searchable by "women, sweater". Great sweater! Highly recommend.
